Most day-counters count days. Presence Tracker counts the days IRCC actually credits you.
Physical presence, explained
To become a Canadian citizen, permanent residents generally need to have been physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days (3 years) IRCC Rule within the 5 years immediately before applying. Permanent residents also need to meet a separate residency obligation — at least 730 days (2 years) of physical presence within any 5-year period IRCC Rule — whether they're renewing their PR card or applying for a new one.
Both counts only look at time actually spent inside Canada — every trip abroad, even a short one, subtracts from the total. Tracking this by hand across years of travel is exactly the kind of tedious, error-prone bookkeeping Presence Tracker was built to remove: log your trips once, and it keeps a running, accurate count of your physical presence days for citizenship or PR applications. Presence Tracker includes PDF and CSV export, so you can print your data or manage it outside the app.
*This is not legal advice — always confirm your specific situation with IRCC or an immigration professional — but it's the number every applicant needs to get right.
What's new
Version 1.1
Your whole immigration timeline
Presence Tracker now understands not just where you were, but what status you held while you were there — and it speaks five languages.
Immigration status history
Record every period of status you've held — visitor, student, work permit, permanent resident — with the half-day pre-PR credit applied automatically, capped at 365 days. Unrecorded stretches are flagged.
Backup and restore
Save everything to a single file and bring it back on a new phone. Your data has never left your device; now it doesn't have to be trapped there either.
Calendar view
Every day you spent outside Canada, laid out month by month and marked with the reason for the trip.
Export for your application
A PDF report or CSV file covering your full travel and status history, with eligibility dates included — ready to attach to a PR renewal or citizenship application.
Five languages
English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Simplified Chinese — the entire app, down to the FAQ, privacy policy and terms of use.
Everything it does

- ✓Days in Canada broken down year by year
- ✓Projected eligibility dates — the earliest you could qualify, and when you will at your current pace
- ✓Half-day credit for pre-PR time, applied automatically and capped at 365 days
- ✓Gap detection: days with no recorded status are flagged rather than silently counted
Your data, your device
Your travel history never leaves your phone. Presence Tracker has no account system, no servers, and no analytics. It makes no network requests at all. Everything you enter is stored in a database on your device, and the only way data leaves is when you export it yourself. Both the App Store and Google Play list this app as collecting no data.
